The fifth installment of the Grand Theft Auto series was released in September 2013 and it has sold over 34 million copies worldwide, making it one of the most successful video games ever created. The fact that it still hasn’t been released on mobile phones, nine years after its initial release, has led to widespread speculation about whether or not it will ever come to the iOS and Android platforms. The short answer is yes, but there are certain factors at play that make this an unusual case in the video game industry, which we’ll get into below.
The popularity of this game
Every single person I know who has an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 has played a game in Rockstar Games’s Grand Theft Auto series at some point. Whether it’s Vice City, San Andreas, or Liberty City (the three main cities of which are all recreated and playable in Grand Theft Auto V), everyone I know loves these games to death.
Technical Issues
One of the reasons why mobile phones have such a difficult time with many PC and console games is because of two main issues: resolution and input methods. Mobile games are often forced to run at low resolutions, which makes it more difficult for developers to implement detailed textures or advanced lighting effects. Input methods can also be challenging in mobile devices due to limited controls. With a desktop or gaming system, users typically have multiple keys at their disposal; however, most mobile devices offer just one button for gameplay.
Profits
The mobile game industry is much different than console gaming. One of those differences, at least in GTA’s case, is that a mobile version would likely not be profitable. Rockstar doesn’t seem to want to release a mobile version of its biggest franchise just yet because it doesn’t make enough money off of them. Mobile games usually aren’t sold at $60 and require players to make micro-transactions or watch ads in order to play through parts of a game or level.
Compatibility issues with every phone
Not only does it take a lot of space to download, but a lot of phones are still not compatible with games of that size. When developing for mobile devices, developers have to worry about trying to squeeze these gigantic files into 4gb—not so easy. That’s why even though people have been waiting for a long time, it will be quite some time before we see an official release on phones. At least until gaming technology advances enough to support a game as large as GTA5.
Is it worth it?
This is a very open-ended question that doesn’t really have a yes or no answer. The good news is that we don’t need to come up with one because there are many other things to consider, such as if it’s even possible for your device, whether you can play it for long periods of time without injuring yourself, and if you’ll ever really enjoy it when there are much better games out there.
Isn’t it cool enough when we play GTA games with our friends ?
Many people around us who want to play gta with their friends, but only few of them can play it due to mobile phones are not compatible with pc and ps4 or 5. If they want to buy a new pc or ps5, they need spend much money. So I am curious that why they can’t release gta5 in mobile phones?
Is this good enough to wait ?
It is unlikely that players will see a PC or console version of GTA V until after Grand Theft Auto Online has been launched and is generating substantial revenue. At present, Rockstar North is focused solely on supporting and building out online multiplayer content for its most recent release, GTA 5(PS 5 version). With so much money pouring in through microtransactions and downloadable content, it is difficult to imagine Rockstar taking a chance by pushing out a full-priced title just yet.
